<title>Total Commerce Management launches Intoscape, the world's most advanced integrated e-commerce platform</title>
<description>E-commerce businesses who need to operate with new levels of efficiency, profitability and competitive performance are the target for Intoscape, the world's most advanced integrated e-commerce platform, launched today by Total Commerce Management (TCM).

Intoscape has been constructed from the ground up as a fully integrated suite of component applications which combine 'best practice' from multiple disciplines and let them work seamlessly together in a single environment.

It addresses the most critical business functions standing between e-commerce retailers and commercial success, including supply chain management, competitor monitoring, automated pricing and content, procurement optimisation and data exchange and integration with existing or new ERP environments.

Supply Chain Management

Intoscape is the first software solution to be able to synchronise data on available inventory from multiple distribution supply sources across many different vertical markets and consolidate information into a single database scheme. This allows small niche distributors with lower cost products but smaller ranges to be compared side-by-side with broad line distributors offering wider choice but often smaller margins.

Previously, gathering and reacting to this data required considerable human resources and the larger the catalogue, the more people it took to manage the enlarged inventory. With Intoscape, huge catalogues of available inventory can be managed by just one or two individuals, where previously large product management teams may have been required.

Competitor Monitoring

In the traditional reseller business, large teams of marketers can spend hours 'mystery shopping' their competition and using the information gathered as a benchmark of the market pricing which will drive their ultimate selling prices.

Intoscape is the first software solution which will actively search the public domain of the internet and use fully automated technology to gather comparative information from an unlimited number of competitors. The software then consolidates the data gathered in to a single database scheme, so that the Intoscape enabled business can now compare current market prices with their previously gathered supply source data.

Automated Pricing &amp; Content Publishing

Intoscape is the first solution to offer fully automated analysis of price elasticity. By applying complex and specific business rules algorithms matched to the needs of the Intoscape enabled business, a vastly reduced product management team can create large catalogues of available inventory and automate the prices in accordance to the expectations of the business.
This allows them to maximise margins automatically where market forces allow, and reduce margins to predetermined minimums where market forces demand more competitive prices.

In addition to automating prices, Intoscape will also automatically build and present content to any determined point of sale, including the web site and any direct sales CRM interface used by sales and customer service personnel. By providing a fully editable, but fully automated Content Management System (CMS) as part of the solution, Intoscape replaces expensive and complex third party software and reduces the number of people required to manage large numbers of products in your catalogue. Empowering front line merchandisers and product managers to assume the roll of the web designer in a single management interface.

Procurement Optimisation

Intoscape uses the business rules algorithms and logic programmed in to its procurement engine to consider all possible sources of product to meet an order request. It will calculate all likely costs associated with direct shipping or consolidation through the businesses own warehouse facility, and then make a definitive recommendation to the buying team of how best to fulfil the order whilst optimising margin, considering all logistics costs and the customer experience. Procurement optimisation can go even further by connecting Intoscape directly to XML ordering or EDI systems with selected suppliers.

Exchanging &amp; Integrating Data

Intoscape provides an ERP Connector capable of exchanging all data in industry standard open source formats with existing ERP, MRP or financial back office applications. By streamlining processes and integrating formally disparate processes Intoscape encourages businesses to take expensive overheads out of their business model, empowering fewer people to do more, without sacrificing control or customer service in an increasingly competitive arena.

Intoscape in action - IT247.com

IT247.com, an SCC company is using Intoscape to manage an online catalogue of over 350,000 available lines changing daily from multiple sources.

Intoscape enables IT247 to monitor competitor activity and pricing, set prices for the online store, and manage the back office logistics and procurement associated with a high volume retail operation.

For more information about IT247.com and Intoscape, read the case study at [http://www.intoscape.co.uk/AboutCaseStudies.html]

“There are few situations in the entire economy with a more dynamic set of information management requirements and where the pace of change is so fast, as faced by e-commerce businesses,” explained Steve Willock, Managing Director of TCM. “Intoscape bridges the gap between the aspirations of e-commerce businesses for more insight and control and their practical capabilities, offering them a huge performance breakthrough.”

Ends.

About Total Commerce Management (TCM) &amp; Intoscape

TCM founders, Steve Willock and Andrew Senior, each have over twenty years experience in software development and supply chain management and have been able to apply this knowledge to help create alternative working practices for sales driven, commodity dependent businesses where margin is tight, prices are volatile, product supply is unpredictable and customer service is paramount.

<title>NEXT THURSDAY IS NATIONAL WORK FROM HOME DAY</title>
<description>More people than ever are working from home according to research by the TUC

Next Thursday (May 15) is National Work from Home Day when up to five million workers are expected to work from home across the UK.

Nearly 3.5 million people already work from home in the UK – 12.2 per cent or one-in-eight of the population – an increase of 600,000 since 1997. The highest proportion of home workers is in the South West with 15.7 per cent, followed by Eastern England with 14.4 per cent. The lowest is in the North East with 9.3 per cent, followed by Scotland with 9.4 per cent.

Using figures for employed people only (excluding self-employed), the highest growth in the past decade has been seen in Northern Ireland with 83 per cent, followed by London with 55 per cent and Eastern England with 45 per cent. The highest proportion of home workers is in the South West with 6.8 per cent, followed by Eastern England with 6.2 per cent. The lowest is in Northern Ireland with 3.8 per cent, closely followed by Scotland with 3.9 per cent. The UK average is 5.1 per cent with growth of 36 per cent over the last decade.

“The benefits of working from home, even occasionally, are now widely accepted,” said Phil Flaxton, chief executive of Work Wise UK, the not-for-profit organisation behind the initiative. “Not only does it reduce the amount of commuting people have to do, enhancing their work-life balance, but many are actually more productive.

“Although many organisations practise the age-old philosophy of ‘presenteeism’, they should open their eyes to the new work ethic spreading across the UK and try out home working: they may well be surprised.”

Home working is one of the smarter working practises being promoted through the Work Wise UK campaign, which is entering its third year. Others include flexible working, including condensed hours and nine-day fortnights, mobile and remote working. Work Wise partners include the TUC, CBI, British Chambers of Commerce, BT and Transport for London. It aims to encourage half the working population, some 14 million people, to be offered smarter working by 2011.

To assist organisations wanting to adopt smarter working practices, Work Wise UK provides guidance and assistance through its [website|http://www.workwiseuk.org] and via a national network of advisers, and offers a framework for organisations to work to, culminating in the award of the Work Wise Mark of Excellence.

<title>Malware Packers fill BitDefender’s Top 10 Malware List for April</title>
<description>Repacking malware is currently the preferred technique

BUCHAREST, Romania – May 09, 2008 – Malware packers seem to have become the technique of choice for cyber crooks according to BitDefender®, a global provider of award-winning antivirus software and data security solutions. Three of the positions on BitDefender’s April 2008 Top Ten Malware list are occupied with malware using the same type of packer (NSAnti) – a device which has caused problems in previous months.

'It seems repacking malware to attempt avoiding detection, rather than spending time and energy writing new viruses from scratch is a technique that's here to stay,' said Sorin Dudea, Head of BitDefender AV Research.

Straightforward packers aren't the only tools used for this purpose. The fourth position on the list is a sophisticated malware loader, dubbed by BitDefender researchers as “Loader.N.” This runs decrypts and enables two other packed pieces of malware (a Trojan, Kobcka and a Trojan, Downloader.Agent) which transforms the infected machine into a spam relay.

'The loader serves two purposes: the encryption prevents antivirus software from detecting the payload in transit, while the unpacking and loading part ensures that at no point does the payload get written to disk – eliminating another inception point,' Dudea explained. 'Of course, the exercise is pointless, as we can still detect the decryptor itself.'

The rest of the top ten is, yet again, pretty well-populated with mass mailer viruses, with the Cutwail Trojan, another tool turning machines into spam bots, appearing in the 6th position.

BitDefender’s April 2008 Top 10 malware list includes:

1. Packer.Malware.NSAnti.AD 33.71%
2. Win32.Netsky.P@mm 7.48%
3. Win32.Worm.Sohanad.NAW 4.56%
4. Packer.Malware.NSAnti.AG 2.86%
5. Trojan.Loader.N 2.25%
6. Trojan.Dropper.Cutwail.F 2.04%
7. Win32.Netsky.AA@mm 1.98%
8. Win32.NetSky.D@mm 1.98%
9. Packer.Malware.NSAnti.Z 1.87%
10. Win32.Nyxem.E@mm 1.65%
11.	OTHERS	39.62%

<title>Flexible Managed Space Bucking Trend in Commercial Property Market</title>
<description>Please Note: Not for broadcast or publication before 00.01 Monday 12 May 2008

As owners and operators from around the world gather for the annual Business Centre Association www.bca.uk.com (bca) Conference and Exhibition in London on 12 and 13 May 2008, bca executive director Jennifer Brooke is bullish about the future of the sector: “Flexible managed space providers report continued strong growth across both office and light industrial space, bucking the trend in the wider commercial property market,” she reports.

BCA conference is recognised internationally as the most important annual event in the Flexible Space calendar. This year’s conference features speakers including James Caan, entrepreneur and panellist on BBC’s Dragon’s Den, commentator and finance specialist Justin A Urquhart Stewart and marketing expert Mike Ashton of Hilton Internationa. Brooke says 400 delegates will attend to learn, share and support the growth of flexible managed space.

“Flexibility, Innovation and Service are the themes of the conference this year,” says Brooke, “which will be taken up by our speakers. James Caan has operated in the flexible managed space sector as well as locating his businesses in them, so he knows first hand the true advantages and benefits. James will share his personal perspective on the Art of Doing Business, which has helped make him so successful.”

Justin A Urquhart Stewart, co-founder of Seven Investment Management and a frequent commentator on economic and investment issues will take a hard look at the current economic climate – and how we arrived at where we are today – and make some predictions for the future, for both the UK and major overseas markets.

Mike Ashton, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Hilton International will look at the absolute necessity for Flexibility, Innovation and Service in every business aiming for success.

“Building a successful brand requires an organisation to deliver on these key principles,” says Brooke, “and Mike will provide delegates with a clear vision of how to address the critical challenges of attracting and then harnessing talent, managing change and communication effectively and, perhaps most importantly in today’s economy, sponsoring collaboration.”

bca members have more than 670 locations throughout the UK and beyond, providing space to around 40,000 businesses, most of which are SMEs. “That’s around 500,000 individual workstations,” says Brooke, “which is a significant slice of the SME market. We estimate growth of around 5% growth per year, as increasing numbers of SMEs and start-up businesses choose the flexibility offered by business centre locations.

“Our members operate more than 40 million square feet of flexible managed space – business centres and light industrial space – and despite the economic squeeze and the impact of reductions in Empty Rates Relief we remain optimistic about future growth.”
The bca Conference and Exhibition takes place in the Tower Hotel, St Katharine’s Way, London on 12 and 13 May 2008.

END - 9 MAY 2008

<title>Proxim Wireless Provides Enhanced Security at Port de La Rochelle</title>
<description>Wireless Solution Supports Video, VoIP and Access Control

London, May 9, 2008 – Proxim Wireless Corporation (NASDAQ: PRXM), a leader in core-to-client solutions for broadband wireless networks, today announced that it has supplied broadband wireless equipment to the Port de La Rochelle in France to ensure enhanced security of the port facilities.

The Port de La Rochelle, located on the west coast of France, is one of the largest commercial ports in Europe. The 470 acre site receives more than 3,000 visits per day and has 10,000 badge holders. In order to increase security for the port, the authorities reviewed a surveillance solution based on fibre, but the cost and lengthy deployment was prohibitive.

CTV, a Proxim Wireless certified partner, proposed to the Port de La Rochelle Authorities a full wireless IP-based solution, which was not only less expensive but also easier and quicker to install than the fibre alternative. CTV conducted RF and site surveys and recommended deploying Proxim Wireless equipment. The wireless solution had to be 100% secure and provide: video surveillance; personnel and vehicle access; control of shipping traffic; and IP telephony.

CTV implemented a wireless fibre ring using the Point-to-Point Proxim Tsunami QuickBridge.11 for the backhauling of the video surveillance cameras and access controls. The system connects all of the port entry points and provides redundancy in case of link failure. In addition to wirelessly enabling transmission from the cameras, the system can also remotely grant or prevent access to visiting vehicles. The Tsunami QuickBridge.11 provides WiMAX capabilities and secured links using the Proxim Wireless protocol WORP (Wireless Outdoor Router Protocol), which is designed to optimise the performance of outdoor wireless Point-to-Point and Point-to-Multipoint links.

“We are extremely impressed by the wireless solution, which has operated without interruption in some adverse weather conditions. And we’re also really pleased that the wireless solution cost so much less than the fibre alternative we had envisaged,” stated Dominique Colson, Port Security Officer at the Port de La Rochelle.

“We specified Proxim’s products because we knew how robust they are. We believe that they are the only wireless products on the market that would be capable of withstanding such potentially hostile coastal conditions. We also consider Proxim’s equipment to deliver a high performance/cost ratio,” explained Jean Michel Maillet, Branch Manager at CTV.

“It’s great to prove that wireless can be as effective as fibre and yet so much less costly and quicker to deploy. A wireless security solution allows a virtually unlimited number of video surveillance cameras to be deployed quickly, easily and cost-effectively. High resolution, real-time video can then be transmitted wirelessly back to the security centre where the wireless network remotely controls the cameras. We’re enjoying a lot of success providing wireless IP-based surveillance systems at ports across the globe,” declared Simon Snowdon, Regional Sales Manager for France, Benelux and North Africa at Proxim Wireless.

The Proxim Tsunami QuickBridge.11 Series operates in the 2.4 GHz, 4.9 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands. The QuickBridge.11 features QoS support for converged video, voice and data, enhanced security with AES encryption, high-performance with Dynamic Data Rate Selection and WORP, as well as a high power 5 GHz version for extended range.

<title>Industry Leading People Search Web site, Tracesmart, have effectively launched 2008 Electoral Roll.</title>
<description>The Electoral Roll 2008 has now been integrated into the already extensive dataset collection held by Tracesmart Ltd and is fully searchable at their [people search|http://www.tracesmart.co.uk/people-search] website – www.tracesmart.co.uk. This addition will give customers access to just under 28 million new records, making their [friend finder|http://www.tracesmart.co.uk/friend-finder/] tool and relative tracing facility faster and much more accurate.

The annual canvas of the UK’s electorate is a pivotal reference point when attempting to trace friends or find relatives, but it shouldn’t be relied on solely. Since the opt-out clause was introduced in 2002 more and more individuals are choosing not to make their details available on the edited Electoral Roll. Paul Weathersby, Technical Director at Tracesmart explains, 'Although 28 million is a huge number of records, this figure is a shortfall on the amount held in previous years edited Electoral Rolls. Recent high-profile lapses in data security and voters being fed misinformation about the uses of their data are prompting more and more people to opt out of the edited Electoral Roll. In addition, an increasing volume of local authorities are opting their constituents out by default – these factors affect the amount of people appearing on the edited Electoral Roll which makes it essential that additional data sources are used to supplement [electoral roll|http://www.tracesmart.co.uk/electoral-roll/] search information. Whilst other providers of people search websites fail to make up the deficit left by voters opting out, we actively address the issue by utilising our proprietary Tracesmart Register when a people search is conducted.'

The Tracesmart Register is a collection of 38 million records gleaned from a wide range of data protection compliant sources. When used in conjunction with the other datases held, users of Tracesmart have access to just under 300 million records. When trying to trace someone, purely attempting to [search people|http://www.tracesmart.co.uk/] held on the Electoral Roll will considerably reduce the chances of finding the individual - Communications Manager Owen Roberts notes the importance of making such a high volume of data available to customers, 'Thanks to the multitude of public records we hold, the ability to trace lost friends [find relatives|http://www.tracesmart.co.uk/find-relatives/] through Tracesmart is unparalleled. The addition of the 2008 Electoral Roll will only go to further enhance positive trace rates, allowing us to reunite more and more people.'

Tracesmart are dedicated to providing their users with the most accurate data available. They are currently involved in a number of data acquisition projects, including the procurement of the Electoral Roll 2009, to ensure that year on year users of Tracesmart have access to the most up-to-date records available.

			<title>Widget Goes Paper-Free at Channel Expo</title>
<description>As part of an ongoing effort to reduce the amount of paper that it uses each year, specialist distributor Widget UK will be attending its most important annual show without a single printed sheet.

Using touch-screen pods that will allow visitors to pull up product and pricing information on the spot and either download it to a USB flash drive or have it sent straight to their office, Widget hopes to cut its paper use by nearly 40%.

Mathew Jones, Marketing Director commented “Making sure that we’ve got enough literature with us unavoidably leads to over-production which means boxes of paper that never get used and need lugging around. Going electronic means that we produce no paper and our visitors need carry nothing more than a USB stick, and even that’s optional. On top of that, Widget gets to know which literature is most popular and visitors get information in a format that they can actually use, like a virtual business card to slot straight into Outlook”

Although Channel Expo is the perfect ‘tech-savvy’ test-bed, Widget hopes to eliminate paper from all shows at which it exhibits using its touch-screen and software solution.

<title>Dragons' Den Winners Hungryhouse.co.uk Finally Find Their Angels</title>
<description>The deal is agreed, hands are shaken, and the cameras stop rolling. But what happens next for entrepreneurs that find success in the Dragons’ Den?

Hungryhouse.co.uk, the website that makes it easier than ever before to find a local restaurant and [order takeaway online|http://hungryhouse.co.uk], was one of the [successful pitches|http://youtube.com/watch?v=kzcQtXA5Gc8] featured on the BBCs Dragons’ Den in autumn last year. They won a £100,000 offer of investment from multi-millionaires James Caan and Duncan Bannatyne, in exchange for an eye-watering 50% of the business.

But, as hungryhouse’s founders Shane Lake and Tony Charles were to find, the investment is far from secure when you shake hands. Four months after filming, post-show due diligence ground to a halt after Caan became unsure whether the business would take off.

Now, the hungryhouse.co.uk team have finally found their business angels. Bryan O’Connell and Andrew Fuller were among those watching that night, and liked the idea so much that they made immediate contact to explore the possibility of backing the duo themselves. Bryan asserts: “We have experience in investing in similar website models, and we immediately felt that this idea had legs. On meeting Shane and Tony, we were particularly impressed with their passion for the business. The team had achieved so much with so little that it was clear that our £150,000 would have a big impact on the growth. We didn’t get the equity deal obtained in the den, but then the business has grown significantly over the last 5 months - and of course we aren’t the Dragons.”

Andy says: “We felt strong empathy with the founders in terms of our technical and business backgrounds and the way that we started our first business. It was clear that we could make a contribution beyond the obvious financial help.”

Shane Lake comments: “After appearing on TV, we had literally thousands of people emailing us. It took about 2 weeks just to read through all the messages. We were so busy, we almost missed Bryan’s initial approach - which came right at the time we realised that the offer from James and Duncan wasn’t going to work out.”

Tony Charles continues: “It was great when we were offered the backing we so desperately needed by the Dragons. The exposure of being on TV was massive for us too. But when you go into the Den, aside from the positives, the one thing you can’t expect is a good equity deal! On reflection, we’re glad the negotiations with the dragons fell through – the new deal, £150,000 for a smaller equity stake - values the business at over 3 times what was agreed in the Den. It was a long process, but we finally have the money we need for our nationwide expansion.”

About hungryhouse.co.uk

Hungryhouse.co.uk was launched in Putney in 2006 by Australian entrepreneurs Shane Lake and Tony Charles. The website allows visitors to read customer reviews before ordering their takeaway online – helping them find their area’s favourite restaurant without the hassle of sifting through piles of unwanted junk mail.

Launched with 12 restaurants in 2006, they now partner with 400 and are beginning their expansion beyond the M25. The website shot into the spotlight in 2007, when it attracted an offer of investment from Duncan Bannatyne and James Caan in the Dragons’ Den (view the [hungryhouse pitch|http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=21729875607&amp;oid=7350126979]). It has since been nominated by Yahoo! as one of 2007’s most [innovative websites|http://uk.promotions.yahoo.com/finds2007/innovative/].
