FIPS 140-2 FINALISED FOR DESlock+
Our simple and intuitive user experience is a great competitive advantage, having FIPS 140-2 allows us to bring the advantages of DESlock+ to a far wider audience
•Data Encryption Systems (DES) Gains International Security Approval
Taunton, UK – 19th February 2010– Data Encryption Systems Limited (DES), the UK-based leader in software copyright protection, data encryption, secure messaging and data storage solutions, is proud to announce today that it has been awarded the prestigious FIPS 140-2 (Federal Processing Standards Publication) Validation by the National Institute of Standards and Technology. This is a landmark achievement for DES following months of investment and commitment in order to establish DESlock+ amongst the world’s leading security solutions. This standard proves DESlock+ exceeds industry and regulatory standards in the USA, a marker which is recognised and holds high esteem around the world.
FIPS 140-2 validation is required for any cryptographic product which will be used in a US government agency for sensitive information. DES already has a wide spread user base and gaining this certification will enable it to penetrate a new and important sector. With this certificate DES can now promote its products into key Federal markets.
David Tomlinson, Managing Director for DES, comments:
“This is a fantastic achievement for everyone at DES. We are already a CCTM accredited product enabling DESlock+ to be used within the MoD, Central Government and the UK public sector and so to now have this international stamp of approval and quality is significant and vital in allowing us to gain recognition in the US. Gaining the NIST endorsement saw DESlock+ put through rigorous testing but I was always confident we would pass. FIPS 140-2 is not only a procurement requirement for the Federal market, but increasingly the financial community are also demanding this high standard which exceeds industry requirements so the opportunities for DES are enormous.”
DESlock+ has historically led the way in achieving security accreditation having completed CESG CCTM before other companies and they were the first in their sector to gain ISO9001 15 years ago.
David Tomlinson adds:
“Our simple and intuitive user experience is a great competitive advantage, having FIPS 140-2 allows us to bring the advantages of DESlock+ to a far wider audience. FIPS certification benefits everyone who uses DES adding status and confidence into their security systems knowing their data encryption system has been approved and authorised by an established and acclaimed global security benchmark. It is another string to our bow and proves to our customers and their clients that DESlock+ passed the most meticulous and demanding tests in the world”
DESlock+ helps organisations to protect against all types of data breach by offering simple, yet extremely powerful, encryption of documents, folders, disks and removable storage media, and computer systems. The United States Federal Government is required to only purchase cryptographic products which are validated to the FIPS 140-2 standard and so this is a significant achievement.
