CNET Networks UK unveils Finalists of the 2008 Business Technology Awards
London, 8th July 2007: CNET Networks UK, the UK’s largest online-only publisher, today unveils the finalists for its sixth annual UK Business Technology Awards. The awards celebrate the greatest achievements of the UK’s business technology innovators, leaders and doers, and bring together the industry elite for the networking party of the year.
Winning a CNET Networks UK Business Technology Award has become one of the most sought-after accolades for all those involved in business technology in the UK. The Awards continue to attract entries from the entire spectrum of UK user organisations and technology companies whether they are a small start-up, vertical specialist or technology giant.
Worthy of special mention this year is the CIO of the Year Award, a category designed to honour individual achievements. With each of this year’s nominees boasting a CV of remarkable accomplishments, it may prove to be the most hotly contested award of the evening.
Tony Hallett, Editorial Director, Technology and Business, for CNET Networks UK, and Chair of the Judging Council, said; “Despite the current economic climate, it is clear that business technology in the UK continues to go from strength to strength. The sheer quantity and quality of entries received highlights the outstanding talent in the industry and we’re proud to recognise some of the most exciting developments of the last year.”
Winners will be selected from the many entries received by the Awards Judging Council. The panel comprises senior practitioners and experts from the technology industry and media including Mark Kobayashi-Hillary, Director, UK National Outsourcing Association; Julie Meyer, Chief Executive, Ariadne Capital; Brinley Platts, Independent Consultant; Sir Robin Saxby, Founding CEO and Chairman of ARM Holdings; John Suffolk, CIO, UK Government; and Dr. Carsten Sørensen, Senior Lecturer in Information Systems, London School of Economics.
In what is one of the most prestigious networking events in the IT calendar in 2008, the winners of the sixteen categories will be honoured on 23 September at the London Hilton on Park Lane.
