LINDY USB Audio Adapter Sounds Like a Good Idea for VoIP Users

Stockton-on-Tees, UK (25th January 2007) – LINDY Electronics announced today the launch of the LINDY USB 2.0 Audio Adapter, which provides an easy and affordable way for voice over IP (VoIP) users to make and receive calls independent of their main sound system. Now, instead of switching between headsets and speakers, users can have their PC audio constantly set up for music and gaming, whilst using VoIP at the same time.

Compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems, this compact adapter features a Crystal Media chipset and has connections for both a microphone and stereo headset or speakers. A push button allows the microphone input to be muted when not in use and a series of LEDs display audio activity and microphone mute status.

“VoIP services such as Skype have become enormously popular and having a separate audio adapter allows users to treat VoIP calls to operate more like a normal telephone call,” comments Stephen Fawcett, Senior Product Manager of LINDY Electronics. “So when someone rings you, the call comes through the headset and not the speakers and because the adapter is so small it’s ideal to use with a PC or a laptop.”

The adapter is plug and play, so there is no extra software to install, all the user needs to do is place the LINDY USB 2.0 Audio Adapter into a convenient USB port to start using it. The adapter comes with a 1m extension cable, enabling the user to place it within easy reach on a desk and is USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 compatible.
