West Byfleet, Surrey ~ 09 January 2006 ~Top student Sally Quantrill has won the Actinic prize for overall best student on Huddersfield University's MSc E-business course. Actinic managing director, Phil Rothwell, presented Sally with the prize at the University's graduation ceremony.
"The popularity of courses like this one illustrate the importance of e-business in today's organisations. To have acquired this level of knowledge in the field will be a great asset and I hope that Sally goes on to achieve the success she so richly deserves. Actinic is proud to be able to sponsor this award, and looks forward to continuing its relationship with Huddersfield University," says Phil Rothwell.
As part of the course, students were required to create a prototype website, for which they used Actinic's packaged ecommerce software.
Sally's business idea was to build a site for a service product, allowing customers to purchase online training applications.
"The need to have a functional package was crucial in developing my prototype e-business," comments Sally. "I found that the design and functionality of Actinic allowed me to tailor the software to any business criteria."
"The course is designed to teach students every aspect of running a successful web-based business and Sally shows every promise of being a highly successful entrepreneur," says course director, Peter Wraith.
Sally originally qualified as a horticulturalist, and took eight years out to raise a family before completing an A-level in Geography. This enabled her to study for a degree in Human Resource Management and an A-level in Economics at Huddersfield University.
From there she moved on to the MSc E-business course. Currently working for HBoS in Copley Data Centre, Sally is looking forward to moving more into project management in 2006.
