- Defra media briefing on the new digital service attracts high-profile coverage -
London, UK – April 15th, 2014 – Digital solutions company Kainos has been commended by the Government Department for Environment Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) for its role in the success of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) digital mapping solution which it is helping to develop.
At a media briefing last week Jo Broomfield, Programme Director for Defra's CAP delivery programme, praised the momentum behind the new £154 million IT system. Both Farmers’ Weekly and Farmers’ Guardian print editions picked up the story, quoting Defra officials who expressed confidence in the system – specifically that it will “ensure there is no repeat of the 2005 payments fiasco, ahead of a fundamental change in the way Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) payments are delivered.”
