Steel Seal

EXPERTS behind Steel Seal – the quick-fix solution for a blown head-gasket – have called for a fundamental review of MOT tests.

The company is calling on the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) to replace the annual inspection with a mileage-related test based on a vehicle’s wear and tear.

The call follows the announcement last week that on March 20 VOSA is introducing a number of changes to the MOT to include more examinations of all vehicle types. The changes are to comply with new European requirements on roadworthiness and include additional checks on brakes, steering, suspension and lighting.

Notwithstanding these changes the MOT test – mandatory for all vehicles in the UK over three years old – is, according to Steel Seal Sales Manager Graham Hollis, still outdated and flawed.

“It is almost absurd to think that a test of roadworthiness should be based on time rather than mileage,” he said.
