With a Christmas special and a third television series in the pipeline, fans of the hit BBC One TV series, Call the Midwife, can add to their seasonal excitement with the news of a very special new CD and Digital release. CALL THE MIDWIFE – THE CHRISTMAS ALBUM, which is packaged in a specially designed pop up gift pack for the festive season, is set for release by Demon Music Group on 25 November 2013.

Comprising 30 tracks, including music from the 2012 and forthcoming 2013 Christmas specials, CALL THE MIDWIFE THE CHRISTMAS ALBUM, features a very special bonus cast recording of the Nat ‘King’ Cole classic When I Fall in Love performed by Laura Main (Sister Bernadette) and Stephen McGann (Dr Turner). Also featured are orchestral selections from the series composer Peter Salem.

Amongst the many Christmas favourites included on the album are Bing Crosby (White Christmas), Judy Garland (Have Yourself A Merry Christmas), Harry Belafonte (Mary’s Boy Child), Elvis Presley (Santa, Bring My Baby Back (To Me) and Blue Christmas), Nat ‘King’ Cole Trio (The Christmas Song), Perry Como (Frosty The Snowman), Brenda Lee (Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree) and Johnny Mathis with Percy Faith and His Orchestra (The First Noel). CALL THE MIDWIFE THE CHRISTMAS ALBUM provides the backdrop for any Christmas festivities and also makes an ideal Christmas gift or stocking filler!

Neal Street Productions’ Call the Midwife was the biggest new drama series on BBC One in over a decade, and the second series averaged a consolidated series average of over 10 million.

Based on the bestselling memoirs by Jennifer Worth, set in the 1950s, Call the Midwife follows Jenny Lee (Jessica Raine), a young midwife in London’s working class East End, and the work of the midwives and nuns of Nonnatus House. Amongst others the series stars, Miranda Hart, Jenny Agutter, Pam Ferris, and Judy Parfitt. The series 2 finale saw Nonnatus House under threat of demolition, a baby boy for Chummy and PC Noakes and a romantic marriage proposal between Dr Turner and Sister Bernadette creating the perfect platform of anticipation for the Christmas special and series 3.
