Fighting off competition from prestigious magazines such as FOAM, Aperture and Zoom British Journal of Photography has been recognised as Photography Magazine of the Year at the 10th annual Lucie Awards. Held in Los Angeles, home of the Golden Globe Awards, the Lucies honour the greatest achievements in photography.
"This is the cherry on the cake after a remarkable 36 months in which we turned the magazine around, relaunching it as a beautifully designed monthly and then introducing our award-winning iPad app, and now our app for the iPhone," says BJP's editor Simon Bainbridge.
He adds: "I’m really proud of what our small team has achieved and it’s great that we’ve been recognised for that, especially as this award comes from our peers."
BJP was established in 1854. Last year it released its dedicated iPad app, which went on to win a coveted title at the 2012 British Media Awards.
To celebrate this latest achievement, BJP are offering one lucky person the chance to win a lifetime subscription to the print edition. Anyone interested needs to simply join BJP’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/BJPhoto for further details.
