TWIST & GO WITH THE NEW BLACK & DECKER® GYRO DRIVER

In a world’s first, you can now achieve ultimate control with the speed of a power tool, simply with the twist of a wrist, thanks to the brand new Black & Decker® Gyro Driver. Using patented gyroscopic technology, the power tool giant has created the first ever motion control screwdriver.

The new Black & Decker Gyro Driver uses gyroscopic sensors, similar to those featured in computer gaming controls and handheld tablets, to provide the accuracy of a manual screwdriver but with the momentum of a powered tool. Doing away with the trigger, the new tool comes complete with a magnetic bit holder and motion driver – simply position the tool, then twist right to drive the screw or left to loosen, and the job is done.

The slow start variable speed can be dictated, ensuring the drill bit is well set before the speed is increased with a further twist of the wrist to complete the task correctly first time, leading to less damaged screw heads and easier removal if required.

Designed to make light work of DIY tasks, the Black & Decker Gyro Driver is always ready to go, running for up to 18 hours on a full charge, thanks to its lightweight 3.6v lithium ion battery and ensures maximum comfort with a soft rubber grip. An LED light above the bit holder illuminates when the tool is ready for use and helps shed light on any awkward job.

The new Black & Decker® Gyro Driver BDCS36G is available from B&Q stores priced at £39.99.

Notes to editors
The science bit
Similar to computer control technology, the Gyro Driver features of a series of sensors arranged around the outside of a ring. When the tool is turned either clockwise or counter clockwise the ring deforms, the sensors then pick up these changes and report them to the microprocessor which converts them to an angle of rotation. The faster the tool is turned, the more the rings deform and the speed of the rotation increases.
