The Top Employers for Working Families Benchmark and Awards 2012 provides the definitive annual list of the best UK employers for work life balance and career development.
Lexington Gray sponsored award category, ‘Best for Flexible Working Award for 2012’, was presented to the winners, Northern Trust, by Lexington Gray’s Managing Director, Fiona Severs.
Fiona congratulated the winners: ‘It is fantastic that Northern Trust sets such a positive example in relation to flexible work. They seek to accommodate all requests for flexible working and provide mandatory training for all managers on how to implement it effectively. Demonstrating crucial senior level support and role modeling, Northern Trust recognizes the importance of work life balance to both genders: flexible work is certainly not just a female issue. Their positive approach meant that last year 31% of requests for flexible work at Northern Trust came from men. This reflects our own experience in the legal sector where more than a third of candidates registering with Lexington Gray for flexible work are male. As they say themselves: ‘At Northern Trust, flexible working is business as usual’. It would be wonderful if other employers could follow their example.’
Fiona Severs originally founded Lexington Gray in 2010 as a niche legal recruitment business specializing in providing law firms and in-house legal teams with flexible employment options and sourcing flexible roles for lawyers. As the business grew, Fiona discovered that her expertise in this area was being sought to provide pragmatic, insightful and workable flexible work policies and Lexington Gray now operates a flexible work consultancy in addition to the recruitment business.
Lexington Gray is passionate about helping professional services clients transform how they work and maximize their greatest talent: their people. Fiona heads up a team of specialist consultants who deliver strategic advice and workable policies which allow clients to stem outflow of talent and increase employee engagement and productivity resulting in tangible bottom line benefits.
