March 8th 2012, London – Civica, a market leader in specialist systems and business process services that help organisations around the world to transform the way they work, and GreenRoad, the leader in driver performance and safety management, today announced a partnership to help organisations reduce maintenance costs, fuel spend and minimise accidents.
Using GreenRoad standard interfaces, Civica’s Tranman can now incorporate GreenRoad driver performance information to help fleet managers understand the impact of high-risk driving on vehicle maintenance parts such as brake pads, discs, shoes, drums and consumables such as tyres. An online dashboard will help identify where cost savings can be made through a more proactive approach to driver performance.
Newport Transport will be the first customer to benefit from the integration between the two systems. Scott Pearson, Managing Director, Newport Transport, is an innovator in the bus industry and he is spearheading a campaign to change attitudes to bus operators. His mantra is to treat bus drivers as professionals and he has replaced traditional portable cabin offices and replaced them with slick offices with solar panels and a glossy driver’s canteen.
Pearson commented, “We are not simply talking about nibbling away at our carbon footprint, we are taking huge strides. With the integration of Tranman and GreenRoad we get insight into the direct impact of driver performance on vehicle wear and tear and the costs incurred. When our drivers are green we can see that we are using fewer parts - reducing the parts manufacture and transport that contribute to our CO2 emissions.”
The GreenRoad open integration platform helps customers such as Newport Transport maximise the value of their GreenRoad-generated data. It provides a set of standard interfaces that enable integration of GreenRoad data and capabilities with customers’ internal enterprise safety, productivity and fleet management systems as well as fleet vendor and mobile resource management (MRM) solutions.
“Combining these two market leading applications will deliver a greater value for customers of both GreenRoad and Civica,” commented Matt Goodstadt, Sales Director, Civica Tranman. “The accuracy of mileage records and information on braking incidents will significantly improve the effectiveness of maintenance scheduling and ultimately reduce the costs of consumables such as tyres and brakes.”
Aidan Rowsome, general manager of GreenRoad Europe commented, “GreenRoad data contains some valuable gems that can help organisations such as Civica enhance their service to their customers. By understanding the impact of risky manoeuvres, particularly braking, we believe Civica can help fleet managers cut fleet costs by understanding the bigger picture of how driver behaviour impacts vehicle wear-and-tear.”
