The first winner of PCHprizes.co.uk’s giant cash prize of £100,000 has today been revealed.
Suzanne Chenery from Newbury, Berkshire, entered a free prize draw on PCHPrizes.co.uk Publishers Clearing House, which offers consumers the chance to win big cash prizes for free, has been running in America for over 55 years, during which time it has given out more than £130 million in prizes. The prize draw has just launched in the UK and this is its first big jackpot draw.
She was surprised today at her place of work, IRUN Ltd, by a personal visit from celebrity Keith ‘Cheggers’ Chegwin and the PCH Prize Patrol who presented her with her cheque for £100,000. In a scene reminiscent of his famous ‘Down Your Doorstep’ segment on The Big Breakfast, Keith took to the streets in a PCHPrizes.co.uk branded taxi to track Suzanne down and personally hand over the cheque.
Suzanne said: “I can’t believe I’ve won £100,000, I’ve never won anything before and this is such a huge amount of money, I only began to think it was real when I saw Cheggers standing next to my desk with a huge cheque! My partner, Daryl Smith, was due to be working away in the Isles of Scilly until next March but now he can come back and live with me. We can pay off our debts, maybe look to buy a house and it will really change our lives so I want to thank PCHprizes.co.uk and tell everyone that they should enter and it could be them winning next time!”
Dennis Vukelic, Director of Online Strategy at Publishers Clearing House, commented: “The lucky winner had no idea she had won – the first she knew about it is was when Keith and the PCH Prize Patrol turned up with the cheque to hand over! £100,000 is a life changing amount of money and were delighted that Suzanne won.”
When 3,000 UK consumers were questioned about how they’d spend such a large sum of money, 55% said they would use it to treat family and friends, whilst 41% would have a luxury holiday. An altruistic third (33%) would give money to charity and a sensible one in five (18%) would put it all in savings.
