London, 14 April, 2009 - UK start-up Imagini, inventor of VisualDNA™, has appointed Charles Wiles (former Product Manager at Google) as Managing Director of Imagini, effective immediately.
Prior to joining Imagini, Charles was the first Product Manager to be hired by Google outside of the USA and reported directly to one of Google's four Product Management VPs. In 2004 he founded FotoSwap - one of the first peer-to-peer photo sharing software applications - after acting as Chief Scientist for Anthropics Technology Ltd. Charles held development and research based positions at Toshiba and Canon before this.
Alex Willcock, Imagini founder and CEO said; “following the introduction of Expedia’s Dermot Halpin as Chairman, we’re really pleased to welcome Charles into the Imagini team. His experience in working with innovative applications will help to drive our continued growth in this area.”
Charles Wiles, Managing Director, Imagini, adds: “I am thrilled to be joining Imagini, as I like the idea that people should be provided with personalised experiences wherever they go on the web. I was blown away by the Hotels.com Visualiser (which was powered by Imagini’s technology) as it does a great job of recommending hotels that match my taste. It saved me the effort of reading through countless hotel reviews and checking ratings.”
Imagini has developed completely unique technology that offers advertisers, publishers and agencies extremely detailed profiling information about their online target audiences. By offering a series of picture-based quizzes to website users, Imagini’s VisualDNA product creates the opportunity for brands to connect with their customers in a completely new way. The bespoke quizzes can either run on a company’s website, or be embedded into flash, making them easy to distribute through online ad and affiliate networks.
To date, more than 15 million people around the world have taken a VisualDNA quiz. And eCommerce partners that have used VisualDNA as the basis for online marketing campaigns have benefited from up to 37% increases in average transaction values.
Imagini is currently developing a VisualDNA Plug-In that will allow any website publisher to create their own free online quiz, in order to enhance their site. To learn more, and help shape the future of VisualDNA, visit www.visualdna.com.
Imagini, the company behind VisualDNA, is a strategic partner to online publishers, retailers, and global consumer brands. These companies use VisualDNA technology to understand and connect with their customers in a unique way. Clients include MSN, Hotels.com, Lastminute.com, Nectar, Vodafone, the British Army and PepsiCo International. Imagini has profiled more than 15 million people using VisualDNA since the company was founded in 2006.
Imagini also operates a consumer site called Youniverse.com™ which has a reach of nearly 1m unique users per month, and was recently nominated by BBC Click as 'one of the best sites on the web'. For more information about Imagini and its brands, visit www.visualdna.com or www.youniverse.com.
